28 aquarium professionals from 22 countries travelled to our Zoo
A total of 128 aquarium professionals from 22 countries travelled to Nyíregyháza to attend the international conference of the EUAC (European Union of Aquarium Curators), hosted and organised by the Nyíregyháza Animal Park.
During the multi-day professional gathering, experts from aquariums around the world shared their experience and expertise in aquatic wildlife conservation, the protection of endangered species, animal health and welfare, as well as the modern and sustainable operation of aquariums.
The programme focused on increasingly pressing questions: how can we preserve aquatic biodiversity, how can aquarium operations become more sustainable, and how can scientific advances and the latest technologies be harnessed in the service of nature conservation?
The professional programme covered a broad range of topics, including animal welfare, modern breeding and propagation techniques, water quality and the biological balance of aquatic systems, energy-efficient operations, the application of artificial intelligence, and raising public awareness of nature conservation.
The event was given particular significance by the opening remarks of László Gajdos, Founding Director of the host institution, Nyíregyháza Animal Park, Minister for the Living Environment of Hungary, and Patron-in-Chief of the conference.
