The Pygmy hippopotamus relies less on water than its five times weightier relative. Its lifestyle is also different, since it spends almost as much time on land as in water. What’s more, in case of danger it does not flee into the water, but to the dense bush. The Pygmy hippopotamus is a solitary creature, the male only looks for the company of the female in mating season.
