Mishmi takin

Although they resemble small cattle, goats are more closely related to the antelope family. As the seasons change, they climb as high as 4,500 meters into the forests and rocky areas above the tree line, as they are excellent climbers. In the fall, the herds disperse and continue their migration in smaller family groups. These are usually led by a female, who “supervises” the kids. Older males are often solitary. Their skin glands, which secrete a pungent, strong-smelling, oily substance, are scattered across the entire body surface.
